The Nightly Adventures

Since Madison moved into the big girl bed almost 2 years ago (has it really been that long?), her sleeping style has been, umm, interesting. We have finally figured out a description, courtesy of some friends. She sleeps like a washing machine. She may start out perfectly normal, head on the pillow, body under the covers, stuffed animals at her side. We have, however, no idea where she will be or how she will be when we go in to check on her later.

We have found literally all the stuffed animals and pillows on the floor. We have found her under the covers, backwards, at the foot of the bed. We have found her engaged in a sleeping wrestling match with the comforter. We have found her naked. Yes, naked. The child who is incapable of pulling down her own underwear to go to the bathroom can completely undress herself in her sleep.

We have threatened many times to take blackmail pictures. But, for some reason, we never have. Until the other night. I just couldn't resist. But, first, proof that she does go to bed like a normal child.

Proof that she can lie down with her head on the pillow. Surrounded by a host of friends to keep her company.





We usually place friendly wagers as to her sleeping position each night. And, as interesting as it has been to witness her sleeping gymnastics, we were not prepared for the scene we walked into the other night. It is one of the few times both of us have laughed so hard we had to leave the room, lest we wake the gymnast.



Yes, she made her bed (first time ever), neatly placed all her stuffed friends on her pillow in a row, and proceeded to sleep backward at the foot of the bed.
